Speaker Services

LOOKING FOR A SPEAKER?
———-
SARAH BAUER, Executive Director of the Minnesota News Council, is available to talk to civic groups about the nation’s oldest news council.
The Minnesota News Council was founded in 1970 to promote fair, vigorous and trusted journalism by engaging the news media and the public in examining standards of fairness.
“Sarah is an engaging speaker and is passionate about promoting excellent journalism,” says Ron Graham, former president of the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota.
In her speaking engagements, Bauer brings a fresh look at life in the “Information Age.”
She is available to talk about:
• The changing climate of journalism locally and nationally
• What is “good” journalism
• What the Minnesota News Council can offer to individuals, organizations, or companies with a grievance about the media
Young, energetic, and a self-described “news junkie,” Bauer graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota with degrees in journalism and philosophy. She began working for the Minnesota News Council in 2005, taking over as director in 2006. She has spoken to groups like the Minnesota Newspaper Association, the National Scholastic Press Association, the Minnesota School Boards Association, visiting international journalists, high school students and collegiate journalists.
Bauer is available for public speaking engagements and can lead media ethics workshops for journalists or mock hearings for students.
To make arrangements for Sarah to speak to your organization, please contact the Minnesota News Council at (612)-341-9357 or email us at info@news-council.org.
All honoraria go to the Minnesota News Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
